AMALFI COAST

 

There are so many natural, historical and artistic attractions in the Amalfi Coast. The most famous and glamour town of the beautiful coast is Amalfi, an ancient mariner republic. You can't miss the awesome Duomo and the splendid Cloister of Paradise as well as a pleasant walking on the waterfront.

 

The pearl of the Amalfi Coast, for its panoramic view is Ravello. Over 1000 feet above the sea level, Ravello offers 2 splendid villas to visit: Villa Cimbrone, where Jacqueline Kennedy spent her holidays and Villa Rufolo, known for its floral garden and classic music festival.

 

Positano is one of the most famous town on the Amalfi Coast, mainly known for the fashion shopping (Moda Positano) and for the traditional home-made shoes and sandals.

 

Praiano is one of the most favorite destinations for a relaxing holiday. Its main attraction is the Emerald Cave, a flooded cave where the sunlight and the blue from the sea come together in a unique emerald color.

 

Furore fiord is a masterpiece of nature and one of the most beautiful picture of the Amalfi Coast.

 

Vietri sul Mare is the last town of the Amalfi Coast, famous for its home-made ceramics (Ceramiche Vietresi) known and loved around the world.

 

THE SORRENTINE PENINSULA

 

The Sorrentine Peninsula is one of the pearls of Italy. Vico Equense is the entrance of this amazing peninsula which ends overhanging in the blue water of Sorrento. It is known around the world as one of the most favourite attraction in the international tourism.

The Sorrentine Peninsula geographically separates the Gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno. It is completely surrounded by the awesome mountain chain of Monti Lattari ending with Punta Campanella.

In front of Punta Campanella you can see the amazing island of Capri, one of the most beautiful and famous islands around the world. 

NAPLES

 

Naples is one of the greatest density of cultural resources and monuments in the world.

The Old Town: in 1995 the Old Town was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Castel dell'Ovo is the oldest castle in Naples which stand out the most in the famous view of the gulf.

Castel Nuovo, better known as Maschio Angioino is a medieval castle located just in front of the harbour. Nowdays it is a symbol for the city.

Mount Vesiuvius is an active volcano high 4300 feet above the sealevel. At the present it is the only active volcano in the European mainland.

Naples underground is a complex of tunnels and caves dug into the tuff in the subsoil of Naples. There are different occult environments and Greek and Roman architectures to visit in the mysterious tunnels just below the City...

The Solfatara of Pozzuoli is without doubt the most interesting volcano's complex to visit, consisting of about 40 ancient volcanoes. In its surroundings there are many places of historical interest such as' Flavian Amphitheater, the Acropolis of Cuma, the Baths of Baia, the Temple of Serapis ......

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

 

Pompeii is one of the most important examples of Roman civilization which may be considered as an open book on arts, cultures, costumes and lifestyle from the past. The city has been preserved over the centuries and has remained the same as when, as a result of the enormous eruption of Vesuvius, was entirely submerged by vast sheets of lava. It was the year 79 AD.

 

Herculaneum

The city of Herculaneum, already severely damaged by the earthquake of 62, was completely destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius (79), which covered the town with an impressive mass of mud, ash and other eruptive materials. Together with Pompeii Herculaneum is one of the most important example of Roman civilization in Italy.

 

Oplontis. Identified from the Tabula Peutingeriana, a twelfth-century copy of a Roman map, ancient Oplontis was a seaside town, located five kilometers to the west of Pompeii. Today the site is occupied by the modern town of Torre Annunziata. The Villa Poppaea is an ancient Roman seaside villa situated in the ancient Roman town of Oplontis.

Paestum was a major ancient Greek city on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in Magna Graecia. After its foundation by Greek colonists under the name of Poseidonia it was eventually conquered by the Lucanians and later the Romans. The ruins of Paestum are notable for their three ancient Greek temples which are in a very good state of preservation.
